With finalists coming from GWO certified safety training providers on every continent, the first ever awards were designed to highlight the excellence found throughout the GWO training network. By entering one of the seven Training Team of the Year categories safety training providers amply showed how they were adapting to the challenges of training in the pandemic and other best practices. Judged by a panel of 11 industry experts, competition was tough.
Of course while there could be only one winner, the judges were so impressed with the standard of entries, they created two additional ‘highly commended’ prizes from among the five finalists in each category.
“Jakob Lau Holst, CEO of Global Wind Organisation, presented the winners with their trophies, adding that they will surely become known as, “the GWOscars”
“It was a real pleasure to celebrate the very best our network of training providers has to offer at the GWO Safety & Training Awards 2021. The standard amongst the finalists was extremely high and we were thrilled to have so many at the ceremony in Copenhagen, traveling as they did from countries like Brazil, South Africa, Australia and from across Europe. The awards programme was designed to shine a light on the instructors and teams of professionals from GWO training providers who go beyond the standard and I am confident we achieved this objective.”
At the ceremony the seven Training Team of the Yearfinalists were supplemented by a further two award winners in individual categories at contrasting stages of their careers. First up was the Young Achiever of the Year category. GWO was delighted to award Karolina Jastrzębska of Windhunter academy in Poland with the trophy.
Finally, the Judges selected an individual for their overall contribution to the sector. This was presented to Claus Rose, Vice President of EHS at GE Renewable Energy, in recognition for his many years dedicated to Safety and training in the wind sector.
