This year marks the third edition of the GWO Safety & Training Awards. For the 2024 edition, GWO has introduced a brand-new award category: “Instructor of the Year”. We were delighted to welcome nominations from every region.
In its first year, this new category has attracted more than 700 nominations across over 80 different training providers.
So far, this new category has trumped all other Awards categories in terms of nominations, attracting more than 700 nominations across over 80 different training providers.
The five finalists for this year’s Instructor of the Year 2024 Award are:
- Kyle Henry, Tech Safety Lines (North America)
Judges’ highlights:
"Kyle is receptive to feedback, which he directly applies to his work while sharing insights with others to improve the organisation. He is a very dedicated instructor who scaffolds his teaching around his professional experience and his ability to listen to and engage with the participants to support their learning path where and when needed.”
- Scott Bradley, 3t Training Services (Northern Europe)
Judges’ highlights:
“Scott is a thorough and dedicated instructor who leverages his prior experience as a technician to provide tailor-made training courses which go beyond standard material and content. He shares best practices, particularly tailored for neurodivergent individuals, and enhances existing feedback processes by soliciting daily input.”
- Kaspars Kalniņš, BOTC Riga (EMEA)
Judges’ highlights:
“Kaspars is a teacher with a boundless curiosity for safety knowledge and an instructor who leads from the heart. He has a clear passion for educating and transmitting information and is empathetic in his attitude towards students, ensuring everyone has an equal chance to learn and offering additional support when needed.”
- Paulo Ricardo Da Silva Ferreira, Wind Training Center (Latin America)

“Paulo is dedicated and eager to learn, mastering flexible training designs focused on participants’ needs and applying scenario-based learning activities. His dedication extends to developing innovative technologies for digital learning, where he strives to incorporate new techniques while prioritising safety above all else.”
- Nguyen Tien Dung, PVD Training (APAC)
Judges’ highlights:
“Nguyen stays afloat of new developments in the teaching and technical fields, participating in numerous conferences and workshops and incorporating feedback directly from students into his teaching. He plays a pivotal role in PVD’s training organisation, where PVD has already identified ways to enhance his work and support further organisational growth.”
